Charity concert "The magic of science and music"

Music and physics are closely related. This is not only evident from famous scientists such as Albert Einstein or Werner Heisenberg, who were also passionate musicians. When quantum mechanics was developed in 1925, waves and their superposition played a crucial role.

On Wednesday, 2 April 2025, at 18:45 and 20:30 in the Assembly Hall on the Wilhelmsplatz, a benefit concert entitled "The magic of science and music" will take place. We would like to share both aspects with you with a physics show and two pianos.

This evening event is a special cultural highlight of the DPG Spring Meeting and a contribution to the UNESCO "International Year of Quantum Science and Technology" on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the development of quantum mechanics. The event is organised by the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and the Rotary-Club Göttingen.

The three members of the Rotary Club of Göttingen, Antonius Adamske, Julia Bartha, Arnulf Quadt and guest pianist Julia Rinderle have put together an entertaining programme of show experiments from the world of physics and rousing piano compositions for two pianos by Gustav Holst and Maurice Ravel, among others, and other musical-physical surprises. The donations received at the benefit event will go to the Göttingen women's shelter and to the Göttingen St. Michael lunch club.

We look forward to welcoming you all and spending an entertaining evening with you!

Yours sincerely,
Antonius Adamske, Julia Bartha and Arnulf Quadt
